Why we love the Volkswagen beetle

Today we are talking about one great thing that came from Germany, no not ring binders or Heidi Klum, Volkswagen and not any other Volkswagen, The Volkswagen Beetle or Bug,Kodok,Vocho,Escarabajo or the French version Coccinelle which literally means lady bird  or lady bug in case it's a man lady bird cause you know ,testosterone( FYI I am an engineer not a biologist so feel free to quote me in your biology final:-))
    But every rose has a thorn as they say and this beloved beauty of every teenager everywhere had some very controversial beginning's,how controversial? You may ask. Well it made some people 1,000,000marks richer.
    The idea for the car was thought of by Joseph Ganz, a Jewish engineer. The idea was stolen by Adolf Hitler after seeing the car at an auto show in 1933. He later had Ganz written out of history. Adolf then gave the order to Ferdinand Porsche to develop a Volkswagen which means literary the peoples car,Folks Wagon.
      In the May of 1934, a meeting at Berlins Kaiserhof Hotel was held where Hitler provided Porsche with more details insisting on a basic car capable of transporting two adults and two children. The car also had to be very user friendly and efficient, it had to be able to do 100km on 7litres and the parts had to be easily replaceable and when replaced had to be easily fixed. The engine also had to be very powerful,it had to be able to maintain rapid sustained cruising on Germany's new road or the Reich-Sautobahn system.
( highway).The car also had to have an air cooled system,this was because ethylene glycol antifreeze was very uncommon and was used only in high performance aircraft engines. It was so cold that radiators were filled with water and  placed in a warm room until morning or drained each night and filled each morning.
    On 26 May 1938( 26 may is when I wrote this) Hitler laid the cornerstone for the Volkswagen factory in Fallersleben. He gave a speech in which he named the car Kraft Dutch freude-wagon meaning strength through Joy car. The cars similarities to a car called the Tatra V570 caused the million marks pay out to Tatra-Ringhoffer for numerous patent infringements by the beetles design
   The car was designated as the Volkswagen Type 1 and was marketed simply as the peoples car. The later models were the 1200,1300,1500( this showed engine capacity) and the 1302 and 1303 which showed the type number.
   The car came as a 2door salon or a 2door convertible. The engines were small but as powerful as needed. They had a 1100,1200,1300,1500 and 1600cc engines. The transmission came in three choices
1) 4-speed manual
2) 4-speed semi automatic from the 1961 models
3) 3-speed semi automatic (autostick) which were in the 1967-1976 models.
  The Volkswagen was father of all vw hatchbacks from the Jetta to the Golf and even the Porsche.
   And for the cars movie career, it is widely known for the Love bug,Herbie. The Volkswagen also features in every movie out there about spring break, teenage heartbreaks and love all together. I think it has been in more movies than all cars out there. The beetle is actually the longest running, most manufactured car of a single platform ever made.

More than cars

It has been long since I have posted on my blog. I know it is supposed to be about cars but I also love other things,video games,meat,jcole and Bob Marley. Bob Marley may never read my blog but jcole might(nice work on forest hill drive) well today I am not talking about cars, am talking about everything else,video games. I am a busy guy in a family of girls. If you read my first post I have said that this blog is an outlet for all my car knowledge and crap.
  I recently played Mortal Kombat Armageddon and realised that Kratos is full of crap. I mean the god of war should be mean, he is mean but he is as mean as Dwayne "the rock" Johnson is Hercules, he looks the part but does he play it. BTW fun fact Mortal kombat was supposed to be a game starring Jean Claude Van Damme but it fell through. Mortal Kombat  is an incredibly awesome game but I think that it lacks something or someone.(I put the bracket there to build up the suspense hopefully before you realise that there is nothing of importance I am writing between the brackets, you will be so interested in who I think should be in the mortal kombat game you will slap yo self)
    Wait for it.... Ghost Rider . I mean who else other than the spirit of vengeance. I mean it is something that is inevitable. I mean Raiden and Liu kang are Mk legends but if Ghost Rider would be the new legend.. Even his fatality would be cool. The go back home seen in the new ghost rider movie that would be a cool finisher... NeatherRealm should definitely look into that like seriously that is my idea and may it be forever graved in the Internet's wall that I Lewis came up with that.

The Aerial Atom

Today I am talking about the Ariel Atom. The car that beat the Bugatti in that episode of Top gear.
    This car is just a two seated formula 1 car. It even has two seats for the rich playboy who has family values. The cars speed is heavily accredited to the weight power ratio. The car has a lot of horsepower to push a very small body. To give you the perspective a Winnebago's engine gives out 350horsepower, but the Atom has a 3L Ariel V8 that has 500 bhp. Now that am already there let me talk about the powers stations.
  The Ariel Atom has a
1)2.0L 245bhp naturally aspirated engine or 310bhp supercharged K20Z4 i-VTEC engine
2)2.2L or 2.4L 205-300 supercharged General Ecotec
3)3.0L 500bhp Ariel V8
4)2.4l 245bhp natural aspirated or 300bhp supercharged Honda I
The transmission comes in a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed sequential manual
The atom began as a student project from a student from Coventry University called Niki Smart. It was known then as the Light Weight Sports car. The car was first shown publicly at the British International Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham in October 1996.
SUSPENSION
this car's suspension comes from a single seat racing car and it only requires a spanner to adjust. The car's handling comes from both front and rear double unequal length wishbones and inboard pushrod operated dampers. Stacked helper coil springs and main coil springs produce a low spring rate for minor deflections and a higher rate for large ones.
    The car goes from 0-100 in 10.88 seconds which is crazy fast
Now this car is insanely fast and also quite attractive. The problem is that they only produce 100 per year. But they should record a race between this car and a formula 1 car and an Atom. I am really curious which will win.

My most favourite muscle cars

So yesterday i got an email asking me what were my favourite muscle cars. It took me a while(three months) I started this list a while back, I just couldn't decide which was better. After alot of research and using my skill and smartness(lol) I
Finally compiled my list as follows:
6)PLYMOTH BARRACUDA
Most people will frown with my reason why this is my least favourite muscle car.
The car in itself is a very good car. Great engine,great suspension and its a generaly very beautiful car but it has one problem ,its name, it is such a stupid name. Am sure thats why it was shortened to Cuda. What people dont know it was supposed to be called The Panda. Why would you call a muscle car a panda?Did it really just have to be an animal? Just because of that it isn't number one
5)THE PONTIAC GTO
This was named Motor Trend car of the Year 1968. It actually came as an option package for the pontiac tempest. It had a 6L v8 that pushed out 325 bhp at 4800rpm. Why is this beautiful car number 5, because it was featured in the movie XXX only,its not because its a bad movie .Now you may ask am I so superficial that I only care about its movie career? No,there have been complains of its poor steering and shody brakes. So that makes it number 5.
4)DODGE DAYTONA CHARGER
     This is a car i have written a blog about. This car has a first for goodness sake. The first car to clock 200mph. This car has been in the fast and furious(Though it was a lookalike). But then why is it number 4. Because this car is so bloody expensive. 298,000,000$ with the original hemi engine
Soo it can't be my most favourite if i can't ever drive it. If it was cheaper it would be number one.

  Now every car from here on is very special . They would all be in the top spot if only this was not a list.

3)MUSTANG
Now this car is the most beautiful muscle car out there. It is the right amount of beauty and beast. And as are all my favourite cars, it has been featured in very big movies.It has been in a James Bond movie Goldfinger(1967 hard top), Gone in 60 seconds (1967 mustang ,Eleanor) ,Need For speed (Ford Mustang shelby GT5000). Now the special thing about this car is that it has been in every great video game out there The Need For Speed games, it has featured in every game since Need For Speed Underground. To say the truth this is a great car, the reason why it isn't number 2 or 1 is because this is a list and there can't be a tie so the mustang takes one for the team.
2)CHEVROLETE CAMARO
Funny enough when they were asked what the name camaro means they said "it eats Mustangs". Although the Camaro actually was supposed to be from the word Camarade meaning comrade
Why is this car number two.its because of the movie Transformers. This movie was marketing gold. I mean who hates Bumble Bee. The yellow camaro that saves the world. I mean do you know that the Lamborghini, Bugatti , Pagani and Ferrari have all been in the Transformers franchise but nobody notices them.They are the most expensive cars in the world but the show stopper was the humble Camaro. This car would be number one if the number one never existed. You can't hate the Camaro,hating the Camaro is like hating Pizza, everyone loves Pizza.
1)THE CHEVROLETE CHEVELLE
  This car doesnt require any introduction. This car doesnt even require acknowledgment. This is the Don Corleon of cars. It requires silence and respect, this car is like the movie beauty and the beast but if beauty was a beast and beast was a drug addict. I mean yes you have a Bugatti and yes you have a Ferrari,but do you have a Chevelle?the Chevell is the greatest muscle car ever. But that is just my opinion even though my opinion is right..

Dodge Charger Daytona

Now there are few cars that have that first car to do feel. The Bugatti,first street legal roadcar to attain 1200bhp and that is that unless you get crazy and do something  like 10,000bhp, nobody really cares because Bugatti stole that thunder. But there is a first that nobody can forget, the Dodge Charger Daytona.
         This car is very special and not because of its crazy back wing, its because it was the first car to clock 200miles per hour. Yes it was. In 1970,March,24, Buddy Baker in car #88 was the first driver to break the 200mph mark at Talladega.
         Now for a little history. The Daytona was produced in two parts ,1969-1970 and 2006-2009. The name comes from Daytona Beach,florida which even then was a racing centre. The car was assembled in Michigan. It was made as a two door coupe, muscle and race car. The engine was either a 426 Hemi or a 440CLDmagnum. It also had two transmission systems, a 4speed manual and a 3speed automatic.
       The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona was created due to the failure of the 1969 Dodge Charger 500 on the superspeedways. It was supposed to be a high perfomance limited edition of the dodge charger and it was created entirely for winning high stakes NASCAR races. It won its first race at the inaugral Talladega 500.
     Now the other famous thing about this car is it large back stabilizer wing,23 inches tall. You need alot of wingage(i am not to be quoted on the use of that word) to keep this beast from flying off.       Due to their exceptional speed NASCAR changed the rules thus banning all 5 aero cars, the dodge, ford, mercury and plymouth.
      Now to crown this car on its throne of pure glory,its price tag. This car is now super super ( am talking dusenburg proportions)rare. This car has been sold in excesses of 290,000,000. Yes 9 figures.
      Its movie life has also been glorious with actors to play it. In the movie Fast and Furious 6, this car is seen being driven by Dominic. But just the same way Cuba Gooding Jr is not Oj simpson, that was not an original. The car being used is actually a 1968 to 1970 charger with nose pieces and spoilers welded on. It is supposed to look like a heavily tuned Hemi Daytona that had been modified into a pro touring supercar. But it was just an ordinary charger with a Chevy Racing crate motors and a Brembo racing brakes to create a versatile stunt car that ends up being destroyed at the end.

So we begin

My name is Lewis and i love cars. I dont know if that word means what it used to but i have been told when i think of cars i talk to my self. I mean what i think can't stay in i literally talk to myself even sometimes  arguments occure. I really thought i could stop but i had to get it out , so introducing lewisandcars.blogspot.co.ke.
It actually took alot of trial and error but i finally got it right.
Now in my car blog i try to say all the stupid,smart,crazy and intelligent things in the car world.
Now let me start with the stupid. The mercedes is a very beatiful car. everything about it is very beautifull. But sometimes they go crazy and make a hutchback.o_O. And the mileage is very very low. How low 1500cc yes a mercedes that everyone can afford. And then there is the family wagon,yes a mercedes station wagon, and then there is the others the crazy hybrids, am not hating on electricity but am talking about the others that are not AMG'S and Gullwings. Now why do i hate on this,is it because  i think a company known for making expensive luxury  cars shouldn't make an affordable version?,well yes, a mercedes benz shouldnt be affordable. Whats the fun about having a pagani? the fact that not everyone has it. The Mercedes is a very big name it shouldnt be thrown around like its a bloody Toyota.
     Now to the smart, vegetable oil fuel. I mean there is something about driving on the highway smelling like bacon and barbeque it is just a very smart option. If you will not do it for the smell, do it for the environment and for you're pockets,It's cheaper. It does'nt even take that long 3 hours to convert you're diesel engine to very clean veggie oil.
    Now to the crazy,W motors, the people who invented the Laikan hypersport. The car that jumped from the hotel in the latest installation of The Fast and the Furious. Now the car is a beast on wheels even the facia is very intimidating . It looks like a bear/tiger . 0-60 in 2 seconds thats too much. But here at lewisandcars we love crazy so we love W motors.
     Now to the intelligent. Only seven lamborghini veneno's will be made. Why is this inteligent, because
drivers are already to crazy for comfort. Adding any more fast cars including the modified,tuned and even stock muscle cars(i mean a corvette would destroy anything even if it was straight from the factory) The world would be very not safe.
